Super Mario

In the year 1980 Shigeru Miyamoto tried to get on the american market with Nintendo. He liked to open up with a game in which Popeye would be the main character, but he lost his licence so he was in need to do it a different way. He worked out the principle of Donkey Kong. In this game you controle a character named Jumpman. Later on the programmers have realised a quite big similarity about their character and the caretaker of their Nintendo Office in New York, Mario Segali, so they named their character after him.

His look was like this, thanks to the simple graphic, that was able by these old computers. He only wears a cap because it was so hard to animate hairs in move. His nose and his mustache are because of the small amount of pixel there displayable. These clothes were selected because it was a wish to see his arms moving while walking. Therefore there had to be a contrast between his arms and his body so they had to be differently colored. This way Mario hast got his typical look today: a knobby nose, a cap, his mustache and the type of clothes.
